INDIVIDUAL ASSIGN. 1 (20%) – PERSONAL BRAND IDENTITY (STILL DESIGN)

1.0 INSPIRATION

I choose the dandelion as my logo design because it represents the influence of freedom, tenacity and tranquility, as well as the dandeliom seeds that are scattered in the wind. It also represents my own personality and what kind of designer I want to be in the future. In addition, the scattering of dandelion seeds also has another meaning, which is the infinite posibility of creativity. Every scattering brings new design concepts, just like how designers continuously seek inspiration and innovation.

2.0 LOGO AIM

3.0 DESIGN PROCESS

My sketching process begins with exploring how to seamlessly integrate “JY DESIGN” with the dandelion motif, ensuring it embodies creativity, identity, and movement.Through multiple drafts,  you focus on form, balance, and movement, ensuring spreading seeds provide fluidity without affecting visual harmony. This is the stage where my concepts take shape, giving rise to the basis of a refined and effective final design.

4.0 FINAL SKETCH DESIGN

My Final Sketch

As my final design, I changed the dandelion's surroundings to dandelion seeds floating around to make it more in line with my concept for designing this logo. I also changed the dandelion flower to another design that makes the dandelion more visible. Finally, I lengthened the dandelion's stem to replace the D of  'JY DESIGN' .

Then, I use Adobe Illustrator to start creating my logo based on my final sketch. I start creating my logo the dandelions with pen tool and elipse tool.

Then I used the rotate tool to rotate the pattern 35 degrees

After that, I press 'control' button and ' D' to copy the pattern until it becomes the dandelion shape. Then, I also used the same method for the stamens in the dandelion, rotating it 35 degrees and repeating until it formed the shape of a dandelion.

Then I shrunk the formed dandelion and turned it into dandelion seeds floating around the dandelion.

I used the pen tool to draw the stem of Dandelion and enlarge it.

Then, I use the type tool to add on 'JY DESIGN' under the logo.

In my design, I chose #A67665 (warm brown) and #403232 (dark brown) because they not only convey professionalism and elegance, but also strengthen the emotional expression of the brand.

For the dandelions outside, I use colour code #403232 (dark brown) to provide a strong foundation, enhancing contrast and ensuring depth and visual clarity for easy recognition.

For the text 'esign', dandelions' seeds and the stem I use colour code #A67665 (warm brown) to add warmth and refinement, symbolizing the soft flow of creativity while making the brand more approachable.

As for the font, I choose :

Minion Variable Concept Bold Italic

I choose Minion Variable Concept Bold Italic because it perfectly balances elegance, movement, and emphasis, aligning with the essence of my design. The italicized slant mirrors the organic dispersion of dandelion seeds, which gives the impression of fluidity and creativity. The bold weight ensures strong presence, making the typography stand out while maintaining readability.
